Teacher InformationTeachers - if you teach 10-13 year olds and want to add some pizzazz to your
curriculum, Healthy Hearts is for you and your students! Healthy Hearts
is a web-based instructional module developed to help children
learn more about cardiovascular health, and the importance of physical activity, good nutrition, and tobacco avoidance in maintaining
a healthy body. We know that behaviors established in childhood, such as physical inactivity, poor eating habits, & tobacco use greatly
increase a child's risk of developing chronic diseases in adulthood, and that many of these poor health habits are established by the age
of 13. Teaching children at a young age about these health habits is an important part of your curriculum, and
Healthy Hearts can
help! You can learn more about the instructional module by clicking the link below!
We also realize that teachers today have more than they can do in the classroom to
prepare our youth for the future. That's why we have made a special effort to assist you by making Healthy Hearts
teacher-friendly - providing you with tools to implement the program with minimal computer experience and minimal preparation time, and with no
special training. From teh Teacher Tools section of Healthy Hearts, you can add your class and student information, print out
student ID cards, choose the topic for students to work on, and monitor student progress. Teacher Tools also provides a Resource
Room for you with additional information and activities.
Healthy Hearts is interdisciplinary - so your students can practice skills in
math, language arts, geography, technology, and physical education, while focusing on health instruction. (see National Content
Standards)
