Getting Started Quick Reference Sheet
Step 1:
First, register your school and yourself as a teacher to use Healthy Hearts in your
classroom curriculum. (directions on the Registration page) As soon as you are approved (not more than 48
hours on M-F), you can log into Healthy Hearts (http://www.healthyhearts4kids.org), with your new UserID and Password that you
selected, and you will enter the Teacher Tools section of Healthy Hearts.
Step 2:
In Teacher Tools, you will need to first
set up your class or classes. Do that by clicking on the "Add
Classes" button in the upper left section. Follow the directions to enter the name of the class or classes that will
be using Healthy Hearts.
Step 3:
Once you have added classes, now enter the names of all the students in each class
by selecting the class name and clicking on "Add Students to this
Class". (This will allow students to be assigned HH ID's and passwords so that HH can personalize content and
award students points for work completed.) You will also be asked to identify
their age, gender, and race.
Step 4:
Once all students are entered, you should print out student ID cards so that you can
quickly and easily distribute UserIDs and Passwords to your students on personalized cards. Do this by clicking
on "Print HH Student ID Cards".
Step 5:
The last step to "getting started" is to "Select the Current
Topic". This function allows you to decide in what order you prefer that HH presents the four topics to your
students (About the Heart, Physical Activity, Nutrition, Tobacco Use). You will need to go here each time you want
to make a new topic available, and to make the final It’s All About Me Survey available when you are almost done with all topics in Healthy Hearts.
Now you and your students are ready to go!
